Have you ever longed for a glimpse of God’s glory? Moses did, and I love his boldness when he pleads with God, “Now show me your glory.” But for God to answer that prayer, Moses had to allow God to put him in a place chosen by God – and that place was a cleft or crevice in the rocky side of the mountain. Imagine if Moses had refused to go. It was probably not a comfortable place – not a place Moses would have chosen. Most likely it was dark and clammy with sharp rocks jutting out. But it was from that uncomfortable place that Moses got a glimpse of God.

I was in an uncomfortable place this past week-end. There were no jagged rocks poking me, but there were needles and IV’s. I wasn’t in a crevice, but on a bed in the emergency room of a hospital – definitely not a place of my choosing. But God placed me there, and, as I lay on that bed, I saw glimpses of His glory.

If you truly desire to see God – to catch a glimpse of His glory – then you need to let Him put you where He chooses. It may not be the most comfortable place. It may be a dark, clammy place with rocks poking into your side, or a hospital bed with needles poking in your arm, but keep your eyes open – you may just catch a glimpse of the Almighty.

PS By the way, this “sparrow” is doing fine, and glad to be back in her own nest.
