We tend to delegate God’s instructions and wisdom for spiritual areas of our lives. Thankfully, God doesn’t make that distinction. In Isaiah 28:26 we read, “God instructs him and teaches him the right way.” And then in the 29th verse it goes on to declare… “All this comes from the Lord Almighty, wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom.” And who is this for? Who is the beneficiary of this magnificent wisdom? Is this offer for a great theologian or for someone facing a powerful ministry opportunity – for the prophet or priest? No, the recipient of all of this is the farmer. God’s instructions are about plowing and planting, reaping and threshing.
Isn’t that encouraging? God cares about our daily routine – our mundane work and responsibilities. The most ordinary things that we face in a day are opportunities for God to “instruct us and teach us the right way,” and to offer us His “wonderful counsel and magnificent wisdom.” If He’s willing to do that for a man planting seeds, He’s willing to do that for any situation we face, and I find that wonderful news!
